Elope in Paradise: Kauai’s Most Enchanting Elopement Locations

As a Hawaii elopement photographer, I have the privilege of capturing intimate moments in some of the most beautiful places on earth. Kauai is a particularly special place for elopements, and it’s no surprise why. I’d love to share with you the best places to elope on Kauai! With its stunning landscapes and breathtaking beauty, the Garden isle is the perfect destination for adventure-loving couples seeking a unique intimate wedding experience.

Here are some of my favorite places to elope on Kauai:

Hanalei Bay

Hanalei Bay is a stunning crescent-shaped bay located on the northern coast of Kauai. With its soft white sand, crystal-clear waters, and lush tropical landscapes, it’s the perfect place for a romantic and intimate elopement. It’s also part of the Wiki Permit system, so snagging a wedding permit for this location is easy peasy!

Waimea Canyon

Waimea Canyon, also known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” is a breathtaking canyon located in the heart of Kauai. With its dramatic red cliffs, lush green valleys, and stunning sunsets, Waimea Canyon is the perfect place for adventurous couples who want to elope in a unique and dramatic setting. Seriously, you’ll be blown away that this even exists in Hawaii!

Shipwreck Beach

Shipwreck Beach is a beautiful and popular beach located on the southern coast of Kauai. With its golden sand, raging ocean waters, and even a cliff-jumping spot for those brave enough to try it, Shipwreck Beach is the perfect place for couples who want to elope in a tropical paradise. There is also a scenic coastal hike that’s absolutely breathtaking for sunset!

Kalalau Trail

Kalalau Trail is an epic hike along the Napali Coast on the northwest coast of Kauai, located inside Ha’ena State Park. With its panoramic ocean views, towering cliffs, and lush green valleys, Kalalau Trail is the perfect place for adventurous couples who want to elope in a serene and natural setting. Keep in mind, because the Kalalau Trail is inside a State Park, you will have to have a special permit to hold a wedding ceremony and have professional photography. Curious about the permitting process? I help all my couples with this so inquire today if you’re interested in eloping in Hawaii and need some guidance!

Hoopii Falls

Finally, Hoopii Falls is a beautiful waterfall located near the North Shore of Kauai. With its lush jungle and cascading falls, Hoopii Falls is the perfect place for couples who are craving that tropical vibe. Keep in mind, where there’s water there will be mud (& bugs!) so only attempt this hike if you’re ready to get down and dirty (& wet hehe).

In conclusion, Kauai is a truly a magical place and a perfect destination for couples looking to elope. Whether you’re looking for a secluded beach, a lush jungle, or a dramatic mountain, Kauai has something for everyone. I love recommending it to my couples as their intimate wedding destination.

Curious what the other islands have to offer?
